Rutherford Rolls to Big Win at Linda's, PA Speedweek
7/2/2010

Jonestown, Pa. - Just before this year's PA 600 Speedweek kicked off, Mike Rutherford debuted a brand new PACE Chassis. On Friday night at Linda's Speedway, Rutherford collected enough cash to make quite a few payments on his new Micro-Sprint.
When leader Brock Zearfoss fell victim to a stuck injector with two circuits complete, Rutherford inherited command of the A-Main. He went to on to post a convincing win as the 30-lap event went non-stop, green to checkered for the second consecutive night of Speedweek competition.
Rutherford not only claimed the $1,000 victory, he also earned the Valken Wheel Challenge Bonus of $1,000 because his No. 6 had four Valken Wheels on its corners. He became the first driver to collect the Valken Challenge Bonus during the six race series. Another $500 was waiting for Rutherford at the payout window for his triumph in the Hinchman Racewear Manufacturer's Challenge. Add in the gift certificates donated by various Micro-Sprint vendors, and Rutherford walked out of Linda's with more than $3,000 for his evening's efforts.
"We just debuted this car a week ago, and the guys from PACE have been real helpful in getting us headed in the right direction with it," said Rutherford in victory lane. "We actually missed (the set up) a little bit tonight. With the spec tire mandated by Speedweek rules, when the track rubbers up like it did tonight and the cars lock down, they are really a handful. I got tight and couldn't get by any more of the lapped cars, and when you go 30 laps non-stop, it will wear you out."
Tim Buckwalter reversed his Speedweek fortunes with a runner-up finish.  Buckwalter closed in on Rutherford as they negotiated lapped traffic, but he could not narrow the gap enough to offer a serious challenge to the ace from Newmanstown, Pa.
There were 65 cars in the Linda's Speedway pit area on a beautiful night for racing.
With his victory, Rutherford slipped into second place in the PA 600 Speedweek point standings. With just one event left to run, Rutherford trails Heath Hehnly by a scant five points heading into Micromania at Lanco's Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway on Saturday.

The 12 lap Hinchman Raceware Manufacture's Challenge Dash saw 11 drivers take part. Each driver represented a Chassis builder. Drivers would draw for starting position and the race would be slowed after lap 6 to restart the event again with a side by side start with the leader of the event having a choice of starting inside or outside row one. Eric Bodine drew #1 pill and led the first six laps of the event. For the two abreast restart Bodine chose the inside and Mike Rutherford would start outside Bodine. Rutherford took the lead on the restart and went on to take the big win with his PACE Chassis with Eric Bodine second in a Bullrider, Ryan Wilson third in a PMP, Heath Hehnly fourth in a Hyper and Tyson Hall fifth in a Sawyer. A special thank you goes out to Dave Bodine for putting this Dash together.

Sean Guthrie First Micro Sprint Win! Aztec Speedway,NM  6-26-2010

Sean Guthrie made few very small changes before he rolled off for the main event at Aztec Speedway.
Starting 10th when the green flagged dropped Guthrie fast and furious moved into the sixth position by lap two. Restart Guthrie passed two cars only to drop back in line because of a spin at the back of the field.  When the field went green on lap five he began to work his way up, passing for the fourth position on lap seven.  Another yellow was brought out bunching the field back up, getting a good run on the two cars racing for the lead.  Passing the second runner the number 18 PACE Chassis had only one car to pass. Only problem was the leader was now over a straight away ahead. Don't under estimate the power of a PACE! Sean Guthrie was able to catch the leader running side by side for two laps and clearing the leader on white flag lap. Leading the last lap bringing home the checkered flag for the first time in his micro sprint career.
Congratulations Sean Guthrie!

Austin Stone Wins Night One! Outlaw Nationals,Plaza Park Raceway,CA 7-2-2010

Super 600 action was hot and heavy with 38 cars fighting for the twenty four spots open in the 30 lap feature.  Four heat races and a pair of semi mains pared the group down with young Austin Stone earning the pole spot for the main event.

A four invert placed Stone on the front row and fast timer Jason Rogers forth. At the completion of lap two veteran Jason Rogers took one for the team in turn four. Amazingly unseen by officials.  All along, Stone was leading as Ryan Reeves moved into the fourth position from 10th.

Halfway mark standing saw Stone continuing his dominance and Ryan Reeves wrestling into the second spot, taking up the chase for Austin Stone with ten laps remaining.  Restart saw Reeves pass Stone in turn two only to have it taking away by the yellow.

The final handful of circuits went green with Stone holding off teammate and mentor Reeves for the well deserved win.
Other top ten runners included Wes McIntyre from Indiana sub driving  Heath Duinkerken's PACE Chassis finishing 6th from  24th position. Knute Mynderup finishing 9th.
Congratulations Austin Stone!

"Thank You Scott Coffman, Harry Boudakian and Ryan Reeves for helping me to be a better driver!
