2011 SUPER 600 NATIONALS GOES TO SCELZI

With the “Trophy Cup” Style Format being used for the first time in Micro action there was battles all over the track.
Going into Saturday the top 8 cars in Super 600 were separated by just 20 points. After heat races the points started to tighten up with Heath Duinkerken heading into the main with a slight advantage going into the main. Dominic "The Dominator" Scelzi was 19 points out of the top spot at the start of the evening with a lot of work to get to the top of the board. Scelzi was able to take a 3rd in his heat race helping to catch back up in points.
Scelzi started 16th in the main event and always fast Heath Duinkerken started near the back, with the field fully inverted by points. Scelzi drove his way through traffic chasing down leader Jason Rogers in the Pace Chassis house car. By lap 22 of the 40 lap feature Scelzi was up to 3rd. Heath Duinkerken was trying to match Scelzi pass for pass and had worked up to 7th, Dominic Scelzi made a late race pass of Rogers for the lead and held on to win the 40 lap affair and win the overall points along with the $2000 prize. Duinkerken finished 4th in the main and missed the points by just 8.

5/8 Restrictor - Rookies Alex Panella and Kyle Offill have the only PACE Chassis in the 5/8 class, and it shows! These two young drivers have won every race in the 5/8 class with the exception of one. This night Panella earned the checkered flag, starting on the front row Alex Panella passed the leader on the ninth lap winning the last points race and the 2011 5/8 Class Delta Speedway championship!
3/4 Restrictor - Alex Coronado back in the winners circle once again staring 7th in the feature Coronado took things down to the wire, in the lead the last five laps, the number 27 used the last points race to win his third main event at Delta Speedway!
Non-Wing - Dan Mognaga wins last points race and collecting the non-wing championship for the second year in a row! Mognaga starting 6th and took the lead on lap 23 then ran away from the field to take the 25 lap main event followed by Shane Mhyre a fast 2nd, Heat races were won by Shane Mhyre and Seth Mhyre
Multi - Heat races were won by Ron Singh, Mike Barnes, Matt Peterson and Brad Hannum. Peterson starting on the front row and Hannum starting 5th, matt ran 2nd until lap 13 taking the lead for 10 laps as traffic came into play Peterson tangled with a lapper, as Hannum took the lead the last 7 laps to win his 4th feature event of the season!

Sixty-five cars were signed in for five classes. Drivers from California, Iowa, Washington, and British Columbia were ready to begin the Second Annual California Cup. Qualifying saw Dominic Scelzi set a new track record in the Non-Wing class with a blazing time of 11:228 seconds.
PACE Chassis now holds the record in three 600 classes at Lemoore Raceway!

Non-Wing - With the point season over, drivers were out to have some fun. Dominic Scelzi (#41) took the wing off for the first time this year, started the fun in qualifying and set the new track record. He followed that up with a Heat Race win. Dominic looked unstoppable. Eighteen cars took the green, 5th starter Dominic Scelzi’s fun ended on lap one when the 41 machine damaged after contact the first lap. Hanford’s Michael Faccinto (#1) took the lead early from the third spot, unchallenged in front of the pack for 28 laps!

R-Class - All thirteen cars started the twenty-five lap H & S Body Works & Towing Restricted Main Event. Three PACE cars in the field, So it comes as no surprise that Cory Elliott (#11E) out-gunned the field, starting on the front row Elliott took over the lead the last five laps to score his second win of the 2011 season! North vs. South
The Bullet Impressions/Race Chic Super 600 Class had five drivers from the North vs five drivers from the South in a 15 lap shootout. The five drivers representing the North were Kelly Mauch, J R Thomas, Dustin O'Brien(PACE), Brock Lemley, and Eric Drake all from Washington State. The five drivers representing the South were Californians Mitchell Faccinto(PACE), Heath Duinkerken(PACE), Dylan Black (PACE), Landon Hurst, and Dean Alexander. Hanford’s Mitchell Faccinto (#4) wins the North vs South Shootout. PACE Finishes - Mitchell Faccinto (#4) 1st, Heath Duinkerken (#79) 3rd, Dylan Black (#21) 4th Dustin O'Brien (#6r) 7th
Non-Wing - Up and down two days for the Scelzi team, Friday night Dominic broke the track record first time out in the non-wing class, contact to both cars ended the night, Saturday both shared heat race wins, Dominic Scelzi started third in the main event taking the lead early on, some confusion with the yellow light and a green flag displayed at the same time on a restart in feature event, the green Dominic Scelzi led the remaining 30 laps and the victory.
Two thumbs up for Restricted drivers Alex Cornado and Giovanni Scelzi first time out in the non-wing class!

Multi Class - Newly crowned Deming Speedway Champion Dustin O'Brien snatches another big win, taking The California Cup back home to Snoholish, Washington! I am guessing it's pay back for the "California Kid" (Michael Faccinto) stealing the 2011 Clay Cup at Deming Speedway!
His first race at Lemoore Raceway the Inversion set Dustin O'Brien on the pole, The main event saw O'Brien find success on the bottom, as Dylan Black gets closer and closer to O'Brien, Dustin O'Brien's skill and ability to move through lap traffic won the race, not with-out the hard charging number 21 putting the pressure on the 6R. Fast time was set by Heath "The Mayor" Duinkerken (#79) with a lap of 11.244 at 64.034 mph.

The talented restricted driver Dahne Lynn McKay racing the number 79 PACE Chassis powered by Gordon Seros started the night with a heat race win, taking the main event with ease! Up front the entire race driving into victory circle for the second time this year!
Drake Galante proved putting his PACE Chassis powered by Joey Galante motors in open air their was no stopping Drake "The Bull" Galante! Fourth in his heat race, and qualifying fourth the inversion wasn't a blessing but a curse for the other cars in the field, Pulling away from the field and winning his first Super 600 race at Plaza Park Raceway!

2011 Turkey Bowl Champions

The 11th annual running of the Turkey Bowl at Delta Speedway! The two day show didn't disappoint! Alex Panella won his 10th race of the year, Dustan Sponsler collected his 3rd win, the always exciting Non-wing class was won by my man Shane Mhyre!
5/8 Restrictor- Panella, Panella,Panella! Say that 10 times! Alex Panella Delta Speedways Track Champion won his 10th race of the season! Heat race win starting 3rd in the 50 lap main the fast number 12 took over the lead on the second lap and once again didn't look back, led the remaining 48 laps and crowned the 2011 Turkey Bowl 5/8 class Champion.
3/4 Restrictor- Dustan Sponsler the only PACE in the field won both of his heat races landing him on the pole for the biggest race of the year at Delta Speedway! Sponsler leading the charge lap after lap, until he was passed in turn four of the last lap! Once again Delta Speedway tech department returned the true victory to Dustan Sponsler! Congratulations Dustan Sponsler you are not only a great driver you are a true Sportsman!
Non-Wing - Michael Faccinto driving PACE Chasis house car finished first and second in the heats put him on the pole for the main event , He lead the show for thirty five laps until motor woes slowed his straight away lead, PACE had it covered as 9th starter Shane Mhyre a front runner in the non-wing class at Delta Speedway took over the lead on lap 36 and the remaining 14 laps for his first non-wing Turkey Bowl Victory!

Jeremy Camp driving Chad Bartosik's PACE Chassis machine to another feature win , with an impressive two heat race win, Jeremy Camp followed with a dash victory!
Earning high points and started on the front row of the Non-Wing feature. Camp decimated the field sweeping the Non-Wing show, followed by a 2nd place finish in the wing class feature!
